The Commission has recently become aware of correspondence received by members of the public purporting to have been sent by a John K Nicholas (Hiring Exercise Manager) of the entity McDouglas Construction (Holding) Limited.

Within the correspondence it is claimed that the above named entity has an address of “St Georges Court, Upper Church Street, Hill Street Entrance, Douglas, Isle of Man. Postcode: IM1 1EE.” We can confirm that this is a real address in the Isle of Man, however, the above entity is not located at this address, and no entities genuinely located at this address are in any way connected or associated with the above entity.

The correspondence sent to members of the public is in regard to a job offer from the above entity, asking them to report to the Isle of Man on a specific date.

The Commission wishes to draw attention to the following observations:

The above entity is not a company incorporated within the jurisdiction of the Isle of Man. It is not registered as a foreign company having established a place of business on the Isle of Man. It is not registered as a business name on the Isle of Man.

The Commission has established no association between the above entities and any genuine Isle of Man companies.

The Commission has established no genuine links between the above entities and the Isle of Man.

The telephone numbers used in the e-mails are not genuine Isle of Man telephone number.

Under the circumstances the Financial Supervision Commission feels that this correspondence is being issued to tempt the recipient into becoming the victim of an Advance Fee Fraud – see explanatory notice issued by the Commission at:

The Commission has been made aware of a website for the above entity, which is: www.mcdouglasconstruction.co.uk.

On the Contact Us page of this website it states that the address for McDouglas Construction (Holding) Limited is St Georges Court, Upper Church Street, Hill Street Entrance, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM1 1EE. As stated in the main body of this warning, “We can confirm that this is a real address in the Isle of Man, however, the above entity is not located at this address, and no entities genuinely located at this address are in any way connected or associated with the above entity.”

All other comments previously made by the Commission in the above Public Notice remain valid.
