The Commission have become aware that an individual has been approached by the purported company styled Cardiff Securities International and advised that the company is holding funds in an account to their benefit. In order to facilitate the release of the retained funds they have been advised to forward a “release of funds fee”. The address of the purported company claims to be at 85 Ukabio Street, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM99 1SN, and the Commission can confirm that there is no such address in Douglas or on the Island.

The Commission has identified a web-site www.cardiffhomeportal.co.uk/ which purports to represent the above entities. Research by the Commission has established that the majority of text on this web-site appears to have been copied, without authority, from the web-site of Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander Limited (in administration). Enquiries carried out by the Commission have established emphatically that the above entities and website are not in any way associated to or connected with the genuine Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander Limited (in administration) or Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander (Isle of Man) Limited (in liquidation).

The above entities are not companies incorporated in the jurisdiction of the Isle of Man. They are not registered as foreign companies having established a place of business on the Isle of Man. None of them are registered as business names on the Isle of Man.

The above entities are not, nor ever have been, licensed by the Isle of Man Financial Supervision Commission to undertake any regulated activity in, on or from the Isle of Man.

Under the circumstances the Commission feels that the approach that was made to the potential victim was to tempt the recipient into becoming the victim of an Advanced Fee Fraud – see explanatory notice issued by the Commission at:

Under all the circumstances the Commission would encourage people receiving any form of approach from the above purported entities to refrain from responding to them in any way.

Any persons who have paid out funds to the above purported entities or supplied personal or financial details to them should consider contacting their local police fraud unit without delay.
