Bogus Social Media Posts – FIM Capital Limited

This notice is issued by the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority (“the Authority”) in accordance with the powers conferred upon it under Section 30 of the Financial Services Act 2008.

The Authority has become aware of a number of social media posts claiming to represent the Isle of Man based entity FIM Capital Limited.  The posts, of which the image below is an example, uses details of genuine FIM Capital staff members but the hyperlink supplied for further details is not in any way linked to the genuine FIM Capital Limited.

 

 

The Authority wishes to draw attention to the following observations:

 

The genuine FIM Capital Limited is licensed to undertake a number of regulated activities in the Isle of Man. They have confirmed that the posts seen by by the Authority and duplicated above are in no way connected to them or their business activities in the Isle of Man.

 

If you are in any way concerned about contact you have had with FIM Capital Limited you can contact them through their legitimate website at www.fimcapital.co.im

Under the circumstances, the Authority is concerned that any person who has followed the links on the bogus social media posts relating to FIM Capital Limited may potentially become the victim of fraud or it may be an attempt at gaining personal data from the browser in order to steal their identity.

Any persons who are already involved in any dealings with the potentially fraudulent FIM Capital posts should consider notifying their local Police, bringing to their attention the contents of this notice.
