Updated statistical returns and guidance issued

The Isle of Man Financial Services Authority has issued updated annual statistical return forms for the upcoming submissions due in 2026.

Changes reflect feedback from industry and support the Authority’s commitment to streamlining and simplifying its data returns wherever possible.

Version 2.0 templates and the associated guidance have been published online to enable Island firms to provide the required year-end data for 2025 ahead of the 30 April 2026 deadline for submissions.

The Authority has continued to work with industry representatives as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the annual returns process and overall user experience.

As well as there being no new additions to the revised templates, the Authority has taken the opportunity to remove two existing sections.

Questions about Staffing no longer appear, as that information is now gathered via the STRIX system, while the section on Clients’ Assets – Balances has been omitted in response to feedback from firms.

As a data-driven regulator, it is essential for the Authority to work with the most accurate and up to date information possible. With that in mind, Island firms are encouraged to complete their annual returns at the earliest opportunity.

Return forms and guidance are available on the Authority’s website for the following sectors:

  • Financial advisers – the return applies to those firms licensed to conduct any combination of class 2(3), (6) and (7) regulated activity only. Firms must use the V2.0 template and guidance to complete their return for submission in 2026.
  • Trust and Corporate Service Providers – the return applies to those firms licensed to conduct any combination of class 4 and/or class 5 regulated activity with associated ancillary permissions (for example class 3 services to exempt schemes). Firms must use V2.0 template and guidance to complete their return for submission in 2026.
  • Investment Businesses and Fund Service Providers – the return applies to those firms licensed to conduct any combination of class 2 and/or class 3 regulated activity except those covered above, or banks that hold class 2 or 3 permissions. Firms must use the V2.0 template and guidance to complete their return for submission in 2026.
