This notice is issued by the Financial Supervision Commission (“the Commission”) in accordance with the powers conferred upon it under Section 22 of the Financial Supervision Act 1988.

 

The Commission has recently become aware of the above website which includes references to and claims to represent the above entity.

The website claims that the above entity has offices in and various connections with the Isle of Man. The Commission is satisfied that all such claims are false. In particular the Commission makes the following statements regarding specific claims on the above website:

Trans-Atlantic Private Bank is not the largest bank in the Isle of Man. It is not a bank in the Isle of Man at all.

Trans-Atlantic Private Bank is not an “M&A house in the Isle of Man”, a “debt house in the Isle of Man”, an “equity house in the Isle of Man” or a “local partner in the Isle of Man”. It had no known activities in the Isle of Man between April 2000 and April 2001.

Trans-Atlantic Private Bank is not a member of the Isle of Man Stock Exchange. The Isle of Man does not have a Stock Exchange.

Trans-Atlantic Private Bank is not one of the most powerful Internet banks in the Isle of Man.

Trans-Atlantic Private Bank does not have offices in the Isle of Man.

Trans-Atlantic Private Bank is not headquartered in the Isle of Man.

The above entity is not a company incorporated within the jurisdiction of the Isle of Man. It is not registered as a foreign company having established a place of business on the Isle of Man. It is not registered as a business name on the Isle of Man.

The above entity is not, nor ever has been, licensed by the Financial Supervision Commission to undertake Banking, Investment or Corporate Service Provider business in or from the Island.

The Commission notes that elements of the above website bear a close resemblance to the website www.taipb.com claiming to represent Trans-Atlantic Investment and Private Bank which was the subject of a Public Warning issued by the Commission on 18 August 2004.

Entities by the name of Trans-Atlantic Private Bank feature in lists of unauthorised firms issued by both the Financial Services Authority in the United Kingdom

and by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission

The Commission has established no association between the above entity and any genuine Isle of Man companies.

The Commission has established no genuine links between the above entity and the Isle of Man.

Under the circumstances, the Commission would strongly urge persons considering dealing with this entity to exercise the greatest possible caution before proceeding, bearing in mind the contents of this public notice.
