The Commission has recently become aware of the above website which includes references to and claims to represent the above entity.

The website claims in legal warnings that the above entity administers its websites from its offices in the UK but that it “offers no warranty that materials or services at its websites are appropriate or available for use outside the Isle of Man”. In addition, the above website states that the legal warnings on the website “will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Isle of Man”.

We have reason to believe that the addresses given for the entity in the above website are for a genuine organisation by the name Institute of Financial Services. The Institute of Financial Services has confirmed that it has no knowledge of Barrie Credit Union Ltd.

The website gives a telephone number for the above entity as +44 7795 004518. This is not an Isle of Man telephone number.

The above entity is not a company incorporated within the jurisdiction of the Isle of Man. It is not registered as a foreign company having established a place of business on the Isle of Man. It is not registered as a business name on the Isle of Man.

The above entity is not, nor ever has been, licensed by the Financial Supervision Commission to undertake Banking, Investment or Corporate Service Provider business in or from the Island.
