Albert T. Macarthur

This notice is issued by the Financial Supervision Commission (“the Commission”) in accordance with the powers conferred upon it under Section 22 of the Financial Supervision Act 1988.

The Commission has recently received information regarding correspondence purporting to originate from an “Albert T. Macarthur” who claims to be a Solicitor and who claims to be seeking the “honest cooperation” of the recipient in consenting to being presented as the next of kin of a Brian Lloyd Smith (a purported victim of the terrorist attacks of 11th September 2001), in order to claim a sum of £13,000,000 before it is “declared unserviceable”.

Within the correspondence the purported “Albert T. Macarthur” claims to have an address of “Champion House, Douglas, Isle of Man IM99 1DD, British Isles, United Kingdom”. Enquiries carried out by the Commission allow us to categorically state that such claim is completely false. The above person does not have a presence at nor any other genuine connection whatsoever with this address.

The Commission has established no association between this person and any genuine Isle of Man companies.

The correspondence seen by the Commission gives a telephone number to contact the above person of +44-117-320-1103. This number does not relate to a line on the Isle of Man.

Persons who have paid away any money or given out any personal information in relation to purported correspondence from this person should consider contacting their local Police Fraud Unit for advice,without delay.
