The Commission has recently become aware of correspondence which is purported to have been sent by a Steven Harrison of a purported company called Berkley Assurity Limited.

Within the correspondence it is claimed that the above named entity has an address of “St Georges Street, Douglas, IM1 1AJ, British Isles”. We can confirm that this is a real street in the Isle of Man, however, we have been unable to identify the above named entity at any address within that street or any connection or association with any genuine entities located there.

The above entity claims to be “a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkley Surety LLC”. Berkley Surety Group LLC is a genuine entity in the United States. There is no genuine relationship or affiliation between the genuine Berkley Surety Group LLC and the above entity.

The Commission wishes to draw attention to the following observations:

The above entity is not a company incorporated within the jurisdiction of the Isle of Man. It is not registered as a foreign company having established a place of business on the Isle of Man. It is not registered as a business name on the Isle of Man.

The Commission has established no association between the above entity and any genuine Isle of Man companies.

The Commission has established no genuine links between the above entity and the Isle of Man.

The telephone and fax numbers stated within the correspondence are not genuine Isle of Man telephone numbers.

Under the circumstances the Commission would encourage people receiving correspondence matching the above description to refrain from responding to it in any way.
