Bogus website - First Data Ltd

The Commission has recently become aware of correspondence received by a local Isle of Man company addressed to First Data Ltd., Capital House, Circular Road, Douglas, Isle of Man IM1 1AG (‘Capital House’).

The genuine occupants of Capital House have no connection to, nor to their knowledge have ever dealt with a company called First Data Ltd.

The website http://firstdata.im also intimated that First Data Ltd. was based at the aforementioned Capital House.

The Commission wishes to draw attention to the following observations:

First Data Ltd. is not a company incorporated within the jurisdiction of the Isle of Man. It is not registered as a foreign company having established a place of business on the Isle of Man. It is not a registered as business name on the Isle of Man.

The Commission has established no association between the above entity and any genuine Isle of Man companies.

The Commission has established no genuine links between the above entity and the Isle of Man.

Under the circumstances the Financial Supervision Commission feels that this website and the use of the Isle of Man address is being used to tempt the recipient into becoming the victim of an Advance Fee Fraud.

Is an attempt at gaining personal data from the recipient in order to steal their identity.

Any persons who are already involved in any dealings with the above entity and have concerns should contact the Enforcement Division on +44 1624 689314 or by email to fsc@gov.im.

Any persons who have paid out funds in relation to the above or who have provided personal financial details in relation to the above should consider contacting their local police fraud unit without delay.
