For the reasons set out below, the FSA would strongly urge persons considering dealing with this potentially fraudulent entity to exercise the greatest possible caution before proceeding, bearing in mind the contents of this public notice.

The FSA has recently become aware of the website http://duncanlawriepbnk.com purporting to represent the genuine Duncan Lawrie companies namely Duncan Lawrie (IOM) Limited, Duncan Lawrie Offshore Services Limited, Duncan Lawrie Limited and Duncan Lawrie Asset Management (‘Duncan Lawrie Group’) which are located and regulated in the Isle of Man and UK respectively.

The bogus website http://duncanlawriepbnk.com is an almost exact replica of the genuine website of the Duncan Lawrie Group and purports to offer the same banking and financial services as the genuine bank.

The FSA has established no association between the entity duncanlawriepbnk.com and any genuine Isle of Man companies or businesses.

The FSA has established no genuine links between the entity duncanlawriepbnk.com and the Isle of Man.

A search of all genuine companies incorporated in the Isle of Man can be conducted at https://services.gov.im/companies-registry/

To offer banking services in or from the Isle of Man requires a licence issued by the FSA.

Under the circumstances, the FSA feels that any person accessing this fraudulent website may potentially become the victim of an Advanced Fee Fraud – see West African Fraud-419 Fraud-Advance Fee Fraud.

It may be an attempt at gaining personal data from the recipient in order to steal their identity – see Identity Theft in the Consumers section.
