Isle of Man Financial Services Authority and Personal Finance Society join forces for World Investor Week
The Isle of Man Financial Services Authority have linked up for the second successive year with the Personal Finance Society for World Investor Week.
World Investor Week (WIW) is a week-long, global campaign promoted by IOSCO to raise awareness about the importance of investor education and protection and highlight the various initiatives of securities regulators in these two critical areas.
The regulator and professional body will be holding an open event at Tynwald Mills on Saturday 5th October from 10am. Representatives from both organisations will be available to chat about all matters relating to pensions, savings and investments and will be offering guidance on the things that people worry about most when it comes to money and how to guard against scams.
Adam Owen, President of the Personal Finance Society said, “Having an informal event where people can just drop by and chat with financial professionals and raise some of those things that they may have been thinking about for a while, is a great idea. We are delighted that the IOMFSA have invited us to support the event.”
Claire Whitelegg of the IOMFSA said, “Following the success of our World Investor Week programme last year, we are delighted to be working with Adam and the PFS team to reach out to Manx consumers. Personal finances are important and we hope to demystify them. The Manx public are all invited to join us and we hope that as many people as possible will come along to Tynwald Mills for a chat.”
Earlier this year, the work that Claire Whitelegg did on behalf of the IOMFSA in 2018 to support World Investor Week and also to raise awareness of the risk of financial scams was recognised by the Chartered Insurance Institute at the Building Public Trust awards.
