AML/CFT Annual Statistical Return Now Live

The Isle of Man Financial Services Authority (“the Authority”) has now launched the AML/CFT Annual Statistical Return (“the Return”) for the year 2024, which is due to be completed by 31 March 2025 (https://fsareturns.im/). This is to be completed by all regulated and registered firms. Primary contacts and other nominated persons should now have received an email from STRIX notifying them of the requirements to complete the return.

As with other regulators and jurisdictions globally, the Authority seeks to be aligned to international standards and aims to work with the most accurate and up-to-date data available to inform the risk-based approach and allow for more efficient decision-making. The data collected is also instrumental as the Island works to develop and publish its 3rd National Risk Assessment.

To support the risk-based supervisory engagement planning which takes place in April of each year, it is imperative that the Authority is working with the most recent data. As a result, the new deadline for the Return is now the 31st of March each year, with a 3-month period for submissions. The updated Return Guidance, which was published in December 2024 is available here - Strix AML CFT Annual Statistical Return Guidance.

This guidance remains a ‘living document’ with changes to be updated throughout 2025 as questions and themes are identified.

Within the AML/CFT Supervision Division staff members have been allocated to supporting the Return, with a dedicated telephone number and email address. If you can’t find the answer to your question in the guidance, then feel free to contact the support team directly.

The guidance continues to be a living document, as further questions or trends are identified from the Return during 2025 this guidance will be updated, with this in mind feel free to provide feedback on any area within the return via the email address above.

The Authority wishes to thank those firms who have already provided feedback, as well as those who took part in the Early Access program in November 2024.

David Baker, Senior Manager AML/CFT Supervision Division, said: “Since the introduction of STRIX in 2023, the AML Statistical Return has continued to improve based on feedback from the industry. The new date represents the importance placed on having accurate, up-to-date information to inform the Division’s engagement plan and delivering a risk-based approach to over 600 firms”
